Bloody Beer Variations

At the end of the day, a bloody beer is a lager with tomato juice and spices. This means that there are plenty of avenues to arrive at that tasty destination.

  • For a spicer take, use a bit more horseradish, but if spice just doesn't work well with you, you can skip the horseradish altogether.
  • Experiment with different lager styles, including a light lager, Mexican lager, lime lager, or even a pilsner.
  • Swap the salt and pepper for Italian seasoning, or use them in combination.
  • To spice things up, you can also add hot sauce. Choose whichever is your favorite, or keep it simple with a basic tabasco sauce.

Other Bloody Beer Garnishes

Like its cousin, the bloody Mary, your bloody beer garnish can be packed to the brim with garnish on garnish or just a single one.

  • Instead of a bloody Mary seasoning salt rim, use tajin for a spicier flavor, or dip the rim into a salt and pepper mix. You can also skip a rim entirely.
  • Pierce a few grape tomatoes onto a cocktail skewer.
  • Keep the garish light by using both lemon and lime wheels, balancing them on the rim, or stringing a few wedges together on a cocktail skewer.
  • Make your garnish a bit spicy by using banana peppers or pepperoncini.
  • Go with a protein garnish by adding bacon.

A Look at Beer and Bloody Mary Mix

The bloody beer cocktail, or a beer with bloody Mary mix, may seem quite unusual at first glance, but the tomato juice and lager (preferably a Mexican lager) pair quite well together. Since the cocktail is in the same family as the bloody Mary, it counts the Michelada as a tomato cocktail cousin. The lack of chili peppers in the bloody beer sets the two apart.

While it's pretty simple to construct a quick bloody Mary mix on the fly, you can quickly whip up a batch to keep on hand in the fridge for when you need it. Then again, make it even easier on yourself to craft a bloody beer by keeping a few bottles of lager and a tasty or bold bloody Mary mix on hand for an easy two-ingredient cocktail.

Bold Bloody Beer

The perfect cocktail for those who want to enjoy a bloody Mary riff that isn't as stiff as a bloody Mary, or who want to enjoy something with a bit of zest in the afternoon, a bloody beer is the perfect choice.
