Ingredients

  • 1½ ounces Licor 43
  • ½ ounce heavy cream
  • Ice

Instructions

  1. In a cocktail shaker, add ice and Licor 43.
  2. Shake vigorously to chill.
  3. Strain into shot glass.
  4. Pour heavy cream down the back of bar spoon to form a layer and create the appearance of foam on a beer.

Variations on the Beer Shot

This is one shooter that requires a particular look, but you can still make a few modifications.

  • Lightly shake the heavy cream with ice and add the foamiest part of the cream to serve as the head of the "beer."
  • Instead of Licor 43, use another vanilla liqueur but be sure it has a yellow tint to mimic the look of the beer. You can achieve this by shaking equal parts of vanilla and butterscotch liqueur.
  • Using a frother, thicken the heavy cream before adding it to the Licor 43.

Garnishing the Beer Shot

It may not appear at first glance, but the garnish of the beer shot is, in fact, the heavy cream that mimics the foam of beer. However, if you can't find yourself able to serve a drink without a garnish, you can always add a skewered piece of candied ginger or a tiny bit of lemon or orange zest sprinkled on the foam.

About the Beer Shot

The beer shot isn't alone in clever-looking and cheekily named shots. You can easily team up your beer shot with a baby Guinness shot, which uses coffee liqueur and Irish cream to mimic the look of a beautiful pint glass of Guinness. Like its cousin, the beer shot mimics the look of a perfectly poured lager or pilsner.

Enjoy a beer shot on its own or part of a theme at a party. It wouldn't go amiss at a BBQ. You can serve it alongside some tiny food for a cheeky appetizer. After all, who wouldn't have a chuckle over a miniature beer while playing lawn games? Or try it at a party such as Halloween; after all, the beer shot checks the boxes of both trick and treat.

Shooting a Small Beer

Skip the carbonation of a beer and enjoy a miniature beer instead in the form of a beer shot! Although for fun, you could enjoy the two side by side and enjoy the looks you get as people size up just what it is that's happening. Now that's a shot worth taking.
