Senior skip day is a fun tradition that many senior high schoolers participate in. Plan on doing something fun and enjoy spending time together during these last final weeks as a senior.

Planning Senior Skip Day

Senior skip day usually falls around the last few weeks of school. Whether you will be going with a large group of friends, or just a small group, plan on doing something that will create a special memory.

Beach Picnic

Heading to the beach can be a great way to unwind with your friends and enjoy a day off from school. Plan on packing snacks, drinks, sunscreen, and a portable speaker if you have one. Bring plenty of big towels to set out as well and maybe even a large floaty that you all can share. Beforehand you can make a fun playlist and be sure to add all of your friends' favorite songs. If the water is warm you can swim, float around, or just spend the day lounging around and enjoying each other's company.

Bury a Time Capsule

If you and your friends are feeling extra sentimental, you can put together a time capsule and bury it in one of your parents' yards (with permission). Throw in some pictures, maybe a yearbook, and other special memories and enjoy spending your ditch day reminiscing together. You can even come up with a list of predictions for you and your friends. Put together a plan to dig up the time capsule in 10 years and notice how much has changed.

Create a Friendship Scrapbook

If all of your friends are heading in different directions after graduation, you can spend your ditch day enjoying each other's company and creating a fun scrapbook together. Write about memories, add pictures, and decorate the pages with thoughts about your time in high school together. Leave several pages blank and after graduation mail the notebook every month to each person so everyone can write a little about what's going on for them. Think of this as a fun way for all of you to stay connected.

Take a Cake Baking Class

In honor of almost finishing your senior year, take a cake decorating class together, or bake a cake together at home. After you've decorated your cakes, head to a spot in town that holds a lot of memories for your group of friends and enjoy eating your masterpiece together.

Head to an Amusement Park

If you could use an adrenaline rush, head to the nearest amusement park and plan on spending the day there with your friends. Be sure to leave as early as possible as parking can be tricky. Make sure you bring extra cash as snacks and drinks tend to be more expensive at amusement parks and keep in mind that tickets can get pricey. If you're looking to save a little extra money, bring some snacks and drinks from home. Be sure to take plenty of pictures and maybe even coordinate your outfits with some custom shirts so you remember this special day.

Visit the Zoo

If you have a great zoo nearby, you and your friends can plan on spending the day hanging out with all the animals. The zoo is a great place to walk around and bond with your friends. Look out for special shows and events for some added entertainment.

Go on a Hike

If you and your friends want to do something active, you can pick a beautiful hike to go on together. This gives you a great opportunity to take plenty of pictures together and enjoy spending some time outside. This can be a nice change from the classroom environment. You can even pack a picnic and stop towards the top for a break. Be sure to take pictures, or hire a photographer, and order or print out some photos of you and all of your friends so you can have them framed in honor of this fun day together.

See a Live Show

If you and your friends are in the mood to see a show, you can plan on heading to a concert or comedy show. These options are both available to attend during the week and you can purchase your tickets ahead of time. Plan on meeting up at someone's house, or a nearby restaurant and hanging out together before making your way to the show. This is a great way to spend your day off and enjoy some music or comedy together.

Set Up a Catered Lunch

If you want to do something a bit more formal, you can set up a catered lunch and pick a fun location to enjoy each other's company. Have everyone pool their money and pick a restaurant that everyone likes. You can have your lunch at a park, at someone's house, or at a venue. This is a great way to spend time together and enjoy your final moments as seniors.

Enjoying Senior Skip Day

Senior skip day is a fun tradition that you'll look back on after you graduate from high school. Pick something all your friends will enjoy and have a wonderful time connecting with each other.
